Dog's Best Friends....
Rebecca Mandell, Owner, Trainer
and Dog Care Provider
Rebecca started Dog's Best Friend in 2004 because
she absolutely loves dogs!
Rebecca grew up in Vienna, Austria and Katy, Texas,
the youngest of 9 kids, dreaming of living
in California.
So the day after her high school graduation, she
packed her bags and moved to Los Angeles to pursue
a career in acting. While working on and off in
Television and Film, she yearned to spend more time
with dogs and started volunteering with the Golden
Retriever Club of Greater Los Angeles and Rover
Rescue. While working with homeless and abused
dogs, she realized that her real calling was not the big
screen, but to help save dogs and educate people on
the humane treatment and training of dogs. So, she
walked away from Hollywood and started Dog’s Best
Friend. She has not looked back ever since.
Rebecca lives in Hermosa Beach with her husband,
Corey, a Screenwriter and her three dogs Toby,
Spencer and Rusty.
Rebecca is a member of the Association of Pet Dog
Trainers (APDT). She evaluates and trains dogs
for the Golden Retriever Club of Greater Los
Angeles Rescue and Rover Rescue. She is Pet CPR
and First Aid Certified.

Rachel Sondag, Dog Care Provider, Pooch AuPair,
and DBF's Administrative Assistant
After six years of Chicago Theatre, Rachel moved
out to L.A. last summer to persue film and television
acting.
While working in theatre, Rachel loved her day jobs as
a preschool teacher and nanny in the Windy City.
And most of all she loved taking her toddler friends
for stroller rides in Lincoln Park and along the lake.
So, she’s delighted to find herself here in the South
Bay, taking new furry friends for strolls along the
Strand and for romps in the sunshine.
Rachel’s first canine love was a Labrador named Van
Gogh, the most beautiful, noble dog who would spend
his days with the theatre company in the rehearsal
room, absorbing Shakespeare and Shaw and then
spent his afternoons playing fetch along the lake
shore.
Her newest furry friends are Gertrude--a hilariously
sweet Puggle, and Gladys-- the newly rescued kitten.
Gertie loves sniffing, sun bathing, and hiking Runyon
Canyon. Gladys likes watching television, eating
special can cat food, and tearing up paper bags.

Helena is our resident Pooch Au Pair whom we
recruited all the way from Sweden. Well, not
exactly, she moved to the South Bay a few years
ago to start a new life (she is fluent in English).
Helena absolutely loves dogs and has one of her
own back home. She is so popular with our canine
clients that she's been called "Mary Poppins" for
dogs. When she stays with your dogs, she gives
them tons of love and cuddles!
Helena is Pet CPR and First Aid Certified.
Michelle Edmunds, Dog Care Provider and Pooch
AuPair
Michelle has been an animal lover her entire life and
has loved dogs since the day she was born.
Recently, she became the parent of a Chocolate
Lab puppy with paws the size of a bear's, and to
celebrate her big "tough" dog, she named him
"Rambo."
Last May she graduated from San Diego State
University with a degree in Public Relations and
celebrated her achievement with a trip to Europe.
Michelle loves caring for the Four-legged members
of your family with love and patience, "because our
best friends deserve as much love from us, as they
give."
Michelle is Pet CPR and First Aid Certified.
